Industry Experts Explain the Advancing Care Information (ACI) Category of MIPS
July 24, 2017 – The Physicians Practice 2017 Technology Survey results show a split on whether practices understand the Advancing Care Information (ACI) section of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) track of Medicare payment reform. (MACRA). The guidelines of ACI, which detail how Medicare physicians must use certified health IT, were understood by just 50 percent of respondents.
Of the 50 percent of respondents that said they don’t understand the ACI guidelines, 38 percent say they are having trouble understanding the Quality Payment Program in general, while 28.4 percent say they don’t know the difference between ACI and Meaningful Use, the program ACI replaced.
