Automations: Reduce clicks without having to beg

I Found Workflows With Too Many Clicks. What Can I Do About It?

ehrCatalystTM can isolate, discover, and quantify EHR workflows that take too many clicks to complete.  The inefficiencies of some of these workflows may even prevent your deployment from achieving Meaningful Use. Typically, you would need to ask your EHR vendor to make changes to the EHR. However, since EHR vendors often have numerous customers with differing needs, customization services can be costly and time-consuming.

We leverage software automation technology to reduce clicks, a different & better approach:

  • No EHR changes required
      – Full EHR functionality preserved

  • Automations reducing clicks are rapidly delivered
      – No reliance on EHR vendor release cycles

  • All-inclusive, affordable subscription pricing
      – Low risk, cancel at anytime

  • What are Automations?

Automations are software components that can automate any manual actions, such as mouse clicks and key presses, that a user normally takes when using an EHR. In addition, automations can also automate back-end processes such as file and data transfers, removing the need for manual work using multiple applications. Automations are akin to “software robots”. They are built using principles and tools of automation technology that are well-established in many industries today. We apply this mature technology in unique and innovative ways to create automations that positively impact EHR usability, capabilities, and performance.  Furthermore, automations are drawn and customized from the company’s extensive library of automations designed to work with the leading EHRs. The library enables a practice to benefit from automations that have already been built for other practices using the same EHR, thereby decreasing the cost and increasing the speed of customization and deployment.

    How Users Use an Automation

Automations either work in the background with no user interaction required, or present simple user interfaces that appear at the beginning of an EHR workflow giving the user the option to start the automation. The EHR’s full capabilities and user interfaces are always available to the user as an alternative. For example, here is the user input form for an automation that automates a multi-step EHR login process:

The Engagement Process for an Automation Project

We start with a no-risk assessment conducted on-site or remotely to understand the workflow you wish to automate. We use a combination of user interviews, secure desktop video capture, and data captured by ehrCatalystTM to scope the automation project. We then proceed with a Rapid Implementation phase which selects automations from our automation library and customizes them for deployment in your environment within typically 2 to 8 weeks.  We also create automations from scratch if no such automations are in our library.  We provide on-going monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades as part of the all-inclusive subscription fee.
